SIKORSKY H 34 (S-58) CHOCTOW

original helicopter

The Sikorsky H-34 Choctaw (also known as the S-58)
was a military helicopter originally designed by American aircraft manufacturer Sikorsky for the United States Navy for service in the anti-submarine warfare (ASW) role.
Sikorsky H-34s have served on every continent with the armed forces of twenty-five countries
from combat in Algeria, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and throughout southeast Asia, to saving flood victims, recovering astronauts, fighting fires, and carrying presidents.

The helicopter was also built and developed under license from 1958 in the United Kingdom by Westland Aircraft under the name "Wessex".
The Royal Navy was the primary user for the Anti-Submarine Warfare role.
The RAF and Royal Marines used the Wessex, with turboshaft engines, as an air/sea rescue helicopter and as troop transporter

My model is the RAF Rescue Helicopter but not as the Wessex version but the original sikorsky S-58 version.
Since the Royal Airforce helicopters is mostly ship/carrier baseed i made it also in the folded posisition.
which i was very close to skip when i had to make the rotor blades in the folded posistion.
to make the folding parts and mainly place the rotor blades in the the right place was a living hell.

modes

ofcourse the helicopter can also be in the unfolded posistion and in Flying mode..

i have made a serie of pictures showing the helicopter first in the folded posisition and then unfolded and in flying mode. most of the pictures is not having any comments on them only when i feel it needs one.

VIEWS of the Helicopter

the Helicopter with the front engine hatches open
showing the engine

the open hatches and the engine was actually the last item i made on the model.

i didnt planned to make it with this since i did not had any pictures of it showing the engines.
but when searching for some thing else i suddenly found some great pictures of it with the hatches open.
so i decided to include it in the model

The END

well there is a lot more to see so take a look of the model..
